Job Title: Clean Energy Intern

Location: Hybrid — St. Cloud State University campus (in person) + remote work

Travel: Approximately 1–2 meetings per month within Minnesota (ride sharing available)

Hours: 20 hours/week (10 hours in person; 10 hours remote; schedule flexible)

Compensation: $25–$30/hr

Student Level: Open to students or recent graduates at any academic level

primary responsibilities

  • Conduct desk research on clean energy programs, policies, regulations, and stakeholders.

  • Assist with developing stakeholder interview questions and participate in interviews.

  • Collect, organize, and analyze data related to stakeholders and clean energy projects.

  • Support preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials.

  • Represent VoltaMetrics at meetings and clean‑energy‑related networking events.

qualifications

Required

  • Ability to work independently, manage time, and communicate proactively

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams)

Preferred

  • Google Earth & Maps

  • Power BI

  • Python for data analysis

  • QGIS or other GIS software

  • Attend and actively participate during agreed‑upon hours.

  • Complete assigned tasks on time or communicate early if adjustments are needed.

  • Provide regular updates on progress and challenges.

  • Receive and integrate constructive feedback.

  • Gain an understanding of the clean energy landscape in Minnesota and other states, including policy and regulatory frameworks.

  • Build consulting‑specific skills in data analysis, communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation development.

  • Obtain real‑world experience contributing to ongoing clean energy projects and programs.
